World Roma Congress 15 -16-17 May 2023 in Berlin

Dear people,

We are writing to you with the results of the World Roma Congress 2023.

The Roma community worldwide is in an emergency situation that we needed to talk about: war in Ukraine, right-wing extremism, police violence and serious forms of structural and institutional discrimination. There is insufficient political debate and political will to change the situation. And when there is, the real problems and their causes are not discussed. Therefore, we need a reform of Roma policy.

We initiated this reform with the World Roma Congress 2023 in Berlin. For this, we chose Roma Resistance Day (16 May) and discussed the situation for three days. A key aspect of the new Roma policy must be that it originates from the basis, meaning the Roma community and their concerns.

You can read the declaration of the congress in several languages on the website. In it, the Congress delegates have outlined what needs to be done from the community's perspective.
